Creteheads, Owen Blevins, ConcreteAnswers.tv bringing you the internet’s most passionate show about concrete plants and equipment. Compressors, the life blood of your plant. They’re critical, if they go down you’re not making mud and that’s a problem. I’m standing next to a Kaeser 7.5 horsepower, rotary screw compressor; we’re going to tell you a lot about this little baby. So check it out! The U.S. department of energy says that 10% of our electrical use comes from compressors and up to half of that is wasted. A lot of it from air leaks, but 15-25% of that is from inappropriate or artificial demand. Every Kaeser compressor is made in Germany and after they are manufactured they are put through a battery of tests to ensure that you have the highest quality. Once the compressor arrives at your facility a Kaeser technician comes out to make sure that it’s set up correctly. He’ll make sure that your electrical is hooked up; he’ll make sure that the oil is at the proper level, he’ll make sure that your basic control is set correctly as well before he ever turns this unit on. Kaeser manufacturers direct drive and v belt drive, this particular model utilizes v belt drive, which is low maintenance and very efficient. This v belt drive is also self adjusting, so it maintains operational efficiency as well. This is the brains of the system. It’s called the sigma control basic. Here’s where you do all your programming, this is where you’ll see the operational pressure. You’ll be able to look at temperature, your hours; any faults will show up here, it’s very easy to program and easy to use, very reliable. All air compressors need shop air to keep them cool. Unfortunately shop air isn’t necessarily clean air. Kaeser knows that and uses an air filter in front of the cooler to keep it from getting clogged. Creteheads, the entire time that I’ve been talking to you this unit has been one and operational. Whisper quite, that’s one of Kaeser’s trademarks and they do it because of their superior engineering and manufacturing. It makes their units up to 20% more efficient. Hey, you should think about doing an air demand analysis. The folks at Kaeser will come out and check your facility and see if you have any leaks or inefficiencies on your compressor system. Check us out at MAconcrete.com; of course you can check out Kaeser at kaeser.com, you know we love you at ConcreteAnswers.tv. See ya!
